Project Summary: 

This project for Rollins, the parent company of Orkin, focused on creating a highly efficient pricing system used by franchise and corporate locations across the nation. The system smartly manages daily price changes influenced by factors like seasonality, zip code, and promotions, helping franchise operators stay current and competitive. The design prioritizes simplicity and usability by opening directly to the pricing table, placing users exactly where they need to work without unnecessary distractions like dashboards. This approach streamlines the process of updating and organizing pricing, making it straightforward and task-focused. Additionally, all messages and notifications are seamlessly integrated with the relevant products, ensuring clear communication and quick access to important updates. Overall, the solution enhances operational efficiency and empowers users to manage pricing effectively and confidently.

Solution

By default, the pricing table opens first, placing users directly where they need to work. As a franchise owner, the primary focus is managing product pricing, so no separate dashboard is necessary. The table itself acts as the dashboard, displaying actionable rows and updated corporate information. Messages and activities are linked directly to the relevant product or service. Notifications appear in an indexed window, each linking to its related item. New messages roll to the top or sort by date, with urgency and date determining table order.

Table-first approach – We built the pricing table to open directly without a separate dashboard, placing franchise operators exactly where they need to work

Cell-level interactions – The individual cell selection and accordion functionality allows users to drill down into specific pricing details for each product/service

Clean, task-focused design – The interface prioritizes the data and actions without distractions, making it straightforward for franchise owners to update pricing

Integrated messaging system – While we focused on the table structure, the design supports the concept of messages and notifications being linked directly to relevant products

 

Actionable rows – Each row in our table contains the pricing information that franchise operators need to manage daily, with the accordion showing detailed controls for price adjustments

The sophisticated accordion system we implemented – with different layouts for different data types (like the two-row Premium column layout) – supports the complex pricing factors you mentioned (seasonality, zip code variations, promotions). This allows franchise operators to efficiently manage the dynamic pricing that keeps them competitive in their local markets.

The cell-level selection system we built enables users to focus on exactly the pricing element they need to modify, whether it’s initial pricing, recurring rates, date ranges, or premium options – all without losing context of the broader pricing structure.
